Emma Raducanu: “I am really pleased to get through that. I don’t think it was my cleanest performance but I am really pleased to push through in the tight moments. I really appreciate the support in that spell when she was coming back.
“I came out ready, expecting everything I am just happy I was able to get off to a good start and build a lead.”
On potentially pairing with Katie Boulter again for doubles: “Honestly it was a real challenge for me today. I am not used to playing doubles and I was really upset and really felt I was out of the tournament so it was difficult to fire myself up for this.
“I’d really like to play with Katie again in the future.”

Aside from a little hiccup in trying to close out the first set, I think Emma should be pretty pleased with this performance.
She seems to be timing the ball beautifully on the grass court and is moving very well.
Raducanu has a think about what she wants to write on the camera and in the end goes with “Long with BoulterCanu”.
Sramkova saves match point the first time but can’t the second and Raducanu seals the win in style with another break of serve as she powers into the quarter-finals.
A dominant display.
Sramkova’s shot fails to get over the net and Raducanu has match point. A big cheer from the crowd to try and get her over the line…
Huge roar from Raducanu as she thunders a backhand cross-court shot into the far corner to secure the hold.
She’s just one game away from a place in the quarter-finals.
Sramkova fights back for the hold. Raducanu was perhaps in a bit too much of a rush to get the job done there and her opponent has a game on the board.
Still lots for Sramkova to do, but a reminder for Raducanu to retain her control.
Raducanu is wide with her return from Sramkova’s second serve and it is deuce.
Sramkova digs in to save the first two break points…
Sramkova just looks like she wants the ground to open up and swallow her now as she misses with a shot down the line. She’s down 40-0 on her serve…
Raducanu has to battle for this hold as Sramkova gets to deuce despite some errors that leave her frustrated, but two good serves get the job done for Raducanu and the win is in sight.
It is very much deja vu for Sramkova as Raducanu seals the double break, just as she did in the first set, to lead 3-0.
Oh it must not feel like things are going Sramkova’s way as a shot clips the top of the net but drops her side of the court and Raducanu is 30-0 up on Sramkova’s serve.

Oh dear, Sramkova’s body language is really not good now as she sends a shot long before hitting the net at the start of this game.
Raducanu, meanwhile, looks back on it and is serving strong.
Sramkova sinks to her knees as she sends a shot into the net to hand Raducanu an immediate break.
All that hard work to fight back in the first set and she will now be sensing deja vu from the start of the match.
Sramkova is looking frustrated again as she overhits a couple of returns and Raducanu is up 30-0. A good forehand has too much for Raducanu but the soon-to-be British number one takes the next point and has two break points…

From 5-0 up and two set points up there was just a slight wobble from Emma.
Her opponent opened her shoulders up and went for broke. It paid off for a few games. But it was good to see Emma restore some confidence by holding serve to love.

Emma Raducanu has left court after taking that set.
It had looked like a stroll in the park for her but ended up being hard work.
She received a huge ovation when she sealed the love hold but has decided she needs a little moment after that.
Back on it!
Raducanu holds to love and seals the first set. It was on course to be a dominant win but ended up being a bit more uncomfortable than she’d have liked.
Nevertheless, she will know she can’t ease off in this second set as she looks to progress to the quarter-finals.
