Iran puts 51 top US officials on sanctions list

Iran put 51 Americans on the sanctions list, including the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, for the assassination of Soleimani. In a written statement made by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the former Revolutionary Guards Army Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani was prepared within the scope of the fight against terrorism related to the murder of the US offensive on January 3, 2020, and that high-level American officials, especially former US President Donald Trump, included last year. It was stated that the sanctions list was updated.

In the statement, it was stated that American citizens who were found to have participated, organized and financed the decision-making processes in the assassination of Soleimani and his entourage were added to the sanction list.

In the updated sanctions list published by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, US Chief of Staff Milley, National Security Agency Leader Nakasone, CENTCOM Commander McKenzie, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Iran Operations Chief Michael Anthony D’andrea, US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Nikki Haley and 51 top Americans, including former National Security Advisor Robert Charles O’Brien.

It is noteworthy that James Neal Blue and Linden Stanely Blue, the directors of the “General Atomics” company, which produces the American MQ-9 Reaper type armed unmanned aerial vehicles (SİHA), are also included in the list.

The killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani

On January 3, 2020, the USA carried out an airstrike on the vehicle convoy of Quds Force Commander Soleimani and Deputy Hashd al-Shaabi Leader Abu Mahdi al-Engineer at Baghdad Airport with the SİHA, named MQ-9.

In the attack, a total of 10 people from both commanders and Iraqi and Iranian military officials lost their lives. President of the USA, Donald Trump, announced that he gave the order to kill Soleimani on the grounds that he was a threat to the USA.

Subsequently, Iran hit two US bases in Iraq with ballistic missiles on 8 January. No US soldiers died in the attack, but it was later announced that 109 soldiers suffered traumatic brain injury during the attack.

Trump was put on the sanctions list last year
