CDC: US has not seen the top now at Omicron

Walensky told NBC, pointing to South Africa regarding the Omicron, “I don’t believe we see this peak in the US now, given the way it has peaked in other countries.”

Pointing out that the COVID-19 events have doubled in the last 7 days compared to the previous week, Walensky stated that, on the other hand, he thinks that the USA has not experienced the hill where South Africa lives today.

Stating that there is a slower increase in hospitalizations due to COVID-19 compared to the incident rates, Walensky said, “However, we are now starting to see an increase in hospitalizations.”

The number of rapidly increasing cases in the USA due to the Omicron variant of COVID-19 exceeded the 1 million threshold on a daily basis on January 3.
