Daimler’s chief technology officer, Markus Schaefer, said that they expect the challenge in chip procurement to continue in 2022, especially in the first half of the year.
“Inadequate chip supply will continue to accompany us in 2022, and the feature will continue to accompany us in the first half of the year,” said Schaefer. “We do not expect significant production capacity increases in the first half of the year.”
Daimler produced 23.9 percent fewer vehicles in October 2021 compared to the same period last year. Production in November decreased by 21.8 percent compared to last year.
