US President Joe Biden told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that the United States and its allies will “respond decisively” if Russia continues to invade Ukraine.
The phone call between Biden and Zelenskiy came just days after Biden’s second meeting in a month with Russia’s Head of State, Vladimir Putin, who has deployed some 100,000 troops to the end of Ukraine.
“President Biden has made it clear that if Russia continues to invade Ukraine, the United States will react harshly with its allies and partners,” White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said after the meeting.
In the statement made by the White House, it was mentioned that the two discussed preparations for a series of diplomatic talks to discuss the crisis.
Zelenskiy, in a statement on Twitter, said that they discussed common steps that can be taken to maintain peace in Europe and prevent further tensions in Europe.
