Armenia and Azerbaijan agree on railway restoration

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a statement on Facebook after the trilateral meeting with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and European Union (EU) Council President Charles Michel in Brussels.

Stating that they agreed on the continuation of contacts with Aliyev, Pashinyan said, “We have confirmed the agreement with the President of Azerbaijan on the restoration of railway transportation. The railway will operate under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries, based on reciprocity, in accordance with internationally accepted border and customs regulations. will be able to reach Iran and Russia by rail,” he said.

After the tripartite meeting, the written statement made on behalf of Charles Michel from the European Council yesterday said, “An agreement was reached on the basis of reciprocity in order to move forward through the restoration of railway lines by making appropriate arrangements for border and customs controls.”
